Rosie” is the second Anne Lamott book I’ve read…and I’ve become a big fan of her style and composition. She writes about real people and their muddled up, dysfunctional lives and provides hope for anyone dealing with conflict in their personal existence. Rosie and Elizabeth share an unusual mother-daughter bond which seems to grow stronger as they both become more entrenched in the day-to-day struggles of their lives. The book is poignant, sad and wryly humorous. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone who enjoys Anne Lamott.

Oh to have the freedom to be bored. Elizabeth had a wonderful daughter yet chose to waste her time drinking her life away. I just wanted to shake her awake and tell her to get a job or a hobby or volunteer instead of being sucked into the alcoholic life of her parents. We make choices every day with no one to blame but ourselves for the consequences. I did love all her literary references. Saw some old favorites and new to add to my to-read list.
